Mr Peter Millett CMG has been appointed Her Majesty\u2019s Ambassador to Libya in succession to Mr Michael Aron, who will be transferring to another Diplomatic Service appointment. Mr Millett will take up his appointment during July 2015.<\/p>\n

Mr Millett has served in Doha, UKRep Brussels, Athens, Nicosia and Amman. <\/p>\n

On his appointment as Her Majesty\u2019s Ambassador to the Libya, Mr Millett said:<\/p>\n

The current crisis in Libya is of enormous importance to the United Kingdom and to Europe. I am honoured to have an opportunity to contribute to international efforts to bring stability, security and renewed prosperity for the Libyan people.<\/p>\n

The presence of extremists and terrorists in Libya and the ongoing fighting means that an early political solution and a Government of National Unity is essential to mobilise all Libyans behind a common agenda. I hope that, during my tenure, the British Embassy can return to Tripoli and help to tackle the future rebuilding of the country.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
