{"id":56877,"date":"2015-05-14T09:02:13","date_gmt":"2015-05-14T09:02:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=d9201b916d8298db209ae637260912da"},"modified":"2015-05-14T09:02:13","modified_gmt":"2015-05-14T09:02:13","slug":"news-story-industrial-biotechnology-34-million-for-business-projects","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=56877","title":{"rendered":"News story: Industrial biotechnology: \u00a334 million for business projects"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>Around \u00a334 million is available to support innovative businesses and researchers working in priority areas.<\/p>\n<p>The Catalyst is run by Innovate UK, the <a rel=\"external\" href=\"http:\/\/www.bbsrc.ac.uk\">Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC)<\/a>, and the <a rel=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/www.epsrc.ac.uk\">Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC)<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>It supports research and development for the processing and production of materials, chemicals and bioenergy through sustainable exploitation of biological resources.<\/p>\n<p>The UK is a world leader in research in this area, and it is estimated that the size of the UK industrial biotechnology market could range from \u00a34 billion to \u00a312 billion by 2025.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"key-features\">Key features<\/h3>\n<p>The latest funding round opens on 21 May 2015 and there are 5 types of award:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>early stage translation<\/li>\n<li>early stage technical feasibility studies<\/li>\n<li>industrial research<\/li>\n<li>late stage technical feasibility studies<\/li>\n<li>late stage experimental development  <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 id=\"deadlines\">Deadlines<\/h3>\n<p>The deadline for registration is noon 5 August 2015 for late stage experimental development, industrial research and early stage: translation applications.<\/p>\n<p>For early and late stage technical feasibility studies applicants must register by noon 25 November.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"project-sizes\">Project sizes<\/h3>\n<p>Total project sizes can range from up to \u00a3250k for feasibility studies to up to \u00a310m for experimental development. <\/p>\n<p>Translation awards are led by the academic and while businesses can participate they are not funded.
