It is possible to accelerate the referral of merger cases to phase 2 when requested by the merging parties and the <abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr> has sufficient evidence that the test for reference is met.<\/p>\n<p>Under the fast track reference procedure, the <abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr>\u2019s phase 1 investigation timetable is significantly shortened.<\/p>\n<p>The <abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr>\u2019s fast track procedure was used most recently by the Office of Fair Trading (the <abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr>\u2019s predecessor) in its assessment of <a rel=\"external\" href=\"http:\/\/webarchive.nationalarchives.gov.uk\/20140402142426\/http:\/www.oft.gov.uk\/news-and-updates\/press\/2011\/28-11\">Thomas Cook\/Co-op (2011)<\/a> and <a rel=\"external\" href=\"http:\/\/webarchive.nationalarchives.gov.uk\/20140402142426\/http:\/www.oft.gov.uk\/news-and-updates\/press\/2012\/90-12\">Global Radio\/GMG Radio (2012)<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The <abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr> has today also issued a shortened invitation to comment on its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/cma-cases\/bt-ee-merger-inquiry\">BT\/EE case page<\/a> and would be keen to hear from any interested party on the fast track reference request.<\/p>\n<p>If the <abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr> proceeds with a fast track procedure it would expect to issue a decision within the next 3 weeks.<\/p>\n<p>All information relating to the inquiry will be available on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/cma-cases\/bt-ee-merger-inquiry\">case page<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The CMA has today formally commenced its phase 1 investigation into BT\u2019s proposed acquisition of EE.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":8,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[13],"tags":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/56993"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/8"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=56993"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/56993\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=56993"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=56993"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=56993"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
