{"id":57478,"date":"2015-06-02T14:01:56","date_gmt":"2015-06-02T14:01:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=79ff261c29f6a0602bd4e46358172f75"},"modified":"2015-06-02T14:01:56","modified_gmt":"2015-06-02T14:01:56","slug":"news-story-cma-consults-on-modified-intercity-east-coast-undertakings","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=57478","title":{"rendered":"News story: CMA consults on modified InterCity East Coast undertakings"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>In February, the Competition and Markets Authority (<abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr>) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/news\/cma-to-look-in-detail-at-stagecoach-proposed-undertakings\">announced<\/a> that it would look in detail at undertakings offered by Stagecoach to address the competition concerns the <abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr> had <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/news\/stagecoachvirgin-consortium-given-chance-to-resolve-limited-competition-concerns-arising-from-the-east-coast-rail-franchise-award\">identified earlier in the month<\/a>. On 13 March 2015 the <abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr> issued a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/cma-cases\/intercity-railways-limited-intercity-east-coast-franchise\">notice of consultation<\/a> on the proposed undertakings.<\/p>\n<p>In light of representations received in response to the consultation, the <abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr> considers that material modifications to the undertakings are required to provide a more effective and clear cut remedy to address the competition concerns identified.<\/p>\n<p>The <abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr> has until 18 June 2015 to consider whether to accept the undertakings, and as part of this process is now consulting on whether the proposed modifications to the undertakings are sufficient to address the competition concerns.<\/p>\n<p>The modified draft undertakings and all information relating to the investigation are available on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/cma-cases\/intercity-railways-limited-intercity-east-coast-franchise\">case page<\/a>.
