{"id":57928,"date":"2015-06-15T08:40:58","date_gmt":"2015-06-15T08:40:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=76a9e9c5e8550cec869aab1e6a070f98"},"modified":"2015-06-15T08:40:58","modified_gmt":"2015-06-15T08:40:58","slug":"press-release-all-in-a-days-work-for-percy-hedley-student","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=57928","title":{"rendered":"Press release: All in a day\u2019s work for Percy Hedley student"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>It\u2019s all in a day\u2019s work for a local student as he starts a work placement with the Environment Agency.  <\/p>\n<p>Zaid Ahmed, 19, who attends the <a rel=\"external\" href=\"http:\/\/www.percyhedley.org.uk\/college\/\">Percy Hedley Foundation\u2019s Specialist College<\/a>, joined the team out in the field last week as they cleared and inspected water. <\/p>\n<p>He will spend one day per week for six weeks with the Environment Agency, learning the ropes and gaining valuable work experience. <\/p>\n<p>Zaid is fitting in nicely with field team members Trevor Dean and Barry Kelly, working on the Hartley Burn near Dinnington. <\/p>\n<p>The college \u2013 based at Jesmond, Newcastle &#8211; is part of the Percy Hedley Foundation, a charity working to meet the needs of disabled people and their families. <\/p>\n<p>The Environment Agency\u2019s Ian Doughty, whose team is working with Zaid, said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>We\u2019re delighted to have Zaid with us on a work placement \u2013 it\u2019s a great opportunity for him to learn valuable skills and we value our ongoing relationship with the Percy Hedley Foundation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"last-child\">Zaid has started working with the team to clear debris from the water and inspect the river \u2013 he seems to have really enjoyed it so far &#8211; and we look forward to him joining us in the coming weeks.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Kerry Routledge, Work Experience Coordinator at the Percy Hedley Foundation, added:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"last-child\">Working with the Environment Agency opens up a host of possibilities for our students and allows employers to gain an insight into how barriers in the workplace can be broken down.
