{"id":58005,"date":"2015-06-16T15:21:00","date_gmt":"2015-06-16T15:21:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=50959338f7157053495361332d632a9a"},"modified":"2015-06-25T15:05:15","modified_gmt":"2015-06-25T15:05:15","slug":"news-story-wave-energy-converters-apply-for-business-funding","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=58005","title":{"rendered":"News story: Wave energy converters: apply for business funding"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Updated:<\/em> Link to application process corrected<\/p>\n<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>Wave Energy Scotland is seeking applications from businesses for SBRI (Small Business Research Initiative) development contracts for novel wave energy converter devices which will provide up to 100% of project costs.<\/p>\n<p>Devices should be specifically focused on the prime mover and structure that captures the energy of the wave.<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"external\" href=\"http:\/\/www.hie.co.uk\/growth-sectors\/energy\/wave-energy-scotland\/\">Wave Energy Scotland<\/a> is part of <a rel=\"external\" href=\"http:\/\/www.hie.co.uk\/\">Highlands and Islands Enterprise<\/a> and was set up to support and accelerate the development of wave energy technology in Scotland.<\/p>\n<p>It is estimated that around 10% of Europe\u2019s total wave resource flows in the seas surrounding the Highlands and Islands of Scotland. This has drawn world-leading wave energy device developers to the area. <\/p>\n<p>The Scottish Government has set ambitious targets for electricity generation from wave and tidal resources to contribute to its target of securing 100% of Scotland\u2019s electricity requirements from renewable sources by 2020.<\/p>\n<p>Up to \u00a3300,000 per project is available for the first stage of the competition. Successful projects at stage 1 can then compete for stage 2 and stage 3 funding.<\/p>\n<p>A briefing webinar will take place on 18 June 2015.
