{"id":58061,"date":"2015-06-17T14:19:03","date_gmt":"2015-06-17T14:19:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=678dfa9d9f135e58a5e1b1abd5d6cd1f"},"modified":"2015-06-17T14:19:03","modified_gmt":"2015-06-17T14:19:03","slug":"press-release-whats-inside-that-building","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=58061","title":{"rendered":"Press release: What\u2019s inside that building?"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>Knowing what\u2019s happening behind closed doors, where terrorists could be concealing their activities, could be of vital importance for the defence and security of the UK.<\/p>\n<p>The <abbr title=\"Ministry of Defence\">MOD<\/abbr>\u2019s Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (<abbr title=\"Defence Science and Technology Laboratory\">Dstl<\/abbr>) is holding <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/cde-themed-competiton-whats-inside-that-building\">a competition through its Centre for Defence Enterprise (<abbr title=\"Centre for Defence Enterprise\">CDE<\/abbr>)<\/a>, with total funding of \u00a3650,000 for phase-1 projects.<\/p>\n<p>At the end of phase 1, up to \u00a3500,000 of additional funding will be made available for successful projects.<\/p>\n<p><abbr title=\"Defence Science and Technology Laboratory\">Dstl<\/abbr> is looking for technologies and methods that can work remotely at distances of more than 100 metres. Of interest are non-standard technologies and approaches that contribute substantially to developing an understanding of what\u2019s inside a building.<\/p>\n<p>For this competition, <abbr title=\"Defence Science and Technology Laboratory\">Dstl<\/abbr> is not interested in established techniques for sensing through walls, such as hand-held radar sensors, or for technologies that provide a limited amount of information about a building\u2019s interior.<\/p>\n<p>Those who receive funding will be asked to demonstrate their technology at a stakeholder event in September 2016.<\/p>\n<p>A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/news\/cde-innovation-network-event-9-july-2015-london\">launch event for the competition<\/a> is taking place at The Grand Connaught Rooms, London, on 9 July 2015.
