Below is a short guide on how to deal with the landings:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the animals cannot be released back into the sea once captured \u2013 this is an offence under the <a rel=\"external\" href=\"http:\/\/www.legislation.gov.uk\/ukpga\/1981\/69\">Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981<\/a>\n<\/li>\n<li>please report landings to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/groups\/fish-health-inspectorate\">Fish Health Inspectorate<\/a> on 01305 206 700 or by <a href=\"mailto:fhi@cefas.co.uk\">email<\/a>. Record the species, numbers caught, sex and where the animals were caught<\/li>\n<li>animals can be landed but cannot be re-immersed &#8211; unless held in facilities which are compliant under the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/application-for-an-individual-licence-to-deposit-lobsters-lobster-order-1981\">Lobster Deposit Order License<\/a> <\/li>\n<li>the animals can be sold direct for human consumption, as long as they are not re-immersed or re-introduced into the wild<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/news\/non-native-crabs-and-lobsters-along-sussex-coast\">MMO<\/a> have asked for anyone who catches a non-native lobster or crabs to keep the animals (regardless of size) and report it to the MMO office at Shoreham on 01273 424849.
