{"id":59803,"date":"2015-07-30T13:46:12","date_gmt":"2015-07-30T13:46:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=d8666f93e99c26e758980503bd83d3b9"},"modified":"2015-07-30T13:46:12","modified_gmt":"2015-07-30T13:46:12","slug":"news-story-new-director-general-of-rail-executive-announced","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=59803","title":{"rendered":"News story: New Director General of Rail Executive announced"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>Bernadette Kelly has been appointed as <abbr title=\"Department for Transport\">DfT<\/abbr>\u2019s new Director General for the Rail Executive. <\/p>\n<p>Bernadette is currently Director General for Business and Local Growth at the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (<abbr title=\"Department for Business, Innovation and Skills\">BIS<\/abbr>), where she is responsible for government\u2019s policy towards business sectors including advanced manufacturing and services as well as local and regional growth. Bernadette\u2019s career includes many years working with business and a strong focus on the economy, including the interests of consumers.<\/p>\n<p>Bernadette will join <abbr title=\"Department for Transport\">DfT<\/abbr> in late September and will start with a period of induction, including time spent out and about with the rail industry. She is taking over from Clare Moriarty who was recently promoted to become the Permanent Secretary at Defra.<\/p>\n<p><abbr title=\"Department for Transport\">DfT<\/abbr>\u2019s Permanent Secretary Philip Rutnam said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"last-child\">Bernadette will bring to the department fantastic breadth and depth of experience and great expertise in creating strong partnerships. She is joining the department at a key time when what we deliver will make a huge difference to people\u2019s lives. She is taking a great job \u2013 it will be challenging and fast paced, but also extremely rewarding, improving daily travel and helping to create and sustain jobs and skills for the future. She will be working with a great team and building on strong foundations.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Bernadette Kelly said: <\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"last-child\">I\u2019m delighted to be joining <abbr title=\"Department for Transport\">DfT<\/abbr> to lead the Rail Executive.
