{"id":60018,"date":"2015-08-05T08:48:29","date_gmt":"2015-08-05T08:48:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=380606e15ccd53fb12a00142a092ca58"},"modified":"2015-08-05T08:48:29","modified_gmt":"2015-08-05T08:48:29","slug":"news-story-consultation-on-new-european-union-measuring-instruments-framework","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=60018","title":{"rendered":"News story: Consultation on new European Union measuring instruments framework"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<h2 id=\"consultation-on-new-european-union-eu-measuring-instruments-framework\">Consultation on new European Union (<abbr title=\"European Union\">EU<\/abbr>) measuring instruments framework<\/h2>\n<p>On 4 August 2015 the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills and the Health and Safety Executive published the consultation document \u2018Alignment of nine <abbr title=\"European Union\">EU<\/abbr> Single Market Directives with the New Legislative Framework: Consultation on <abbr title=\"United Kingdom\">UK<\/abbr> implementation\u2019. <\/p>\n<p>2 of the 9 Directives aligned are the Non-automatic Weighing Instruments (2014\/31\/<abbr title=\"European Union\">EU<\/abbr>) and the Measuring Instruments (2014\/32\/<abbr title=\"European Union\">EU<\/abbr>) Directives, for which the National Measurement and Regulation Office have policy responsibility. <\/p>\n<p>The Directives implement the text of <abbr title=\"European Union\">EU<\/abbr> Decision 768\/2008\/EC and make reference to Regulation 765\/2008\/EC on accreditation and market surveillance. Together this creates a more coherent legislative framework for the marketing of products in the <abbr title=\"European Union\">EU<\/abbr> Internal Market; providing improved traceability and clearer requirements on economic operators, greater accountability in the designation and consistency of performance between notified bodies, and the alignment of conformity procedures and commonly used definitions within the conformity assessment process. <\/p>\n<p>The New Legislative Framework does not revise sector-specific elements of existing Directives; no changes have been made to the scope or essential requirements.<\/p>\n<p>The <abbr title=\"United Kingdom\">UK<\/abbr> has an obligation by <abbr title=\"European Union\">EU<\/abbr> law to transpose the Directives into national legislation, coming into force on 20 April 2016.
