{"id":60928,"date":"2015-09-02T14:36:21","date_gmt":"2015-09-02T14:36:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=f4012bcbc80733026696cefebdda5d5c"},"modified":"2015-09-02T14:36:21","modified_gmt":"2015-09-02T14:36:21","slug":"press-release-1-million-improvements-for-m6-near-wigan-and-st-helens","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=60928","title":{"rendered":"Press release: \u00a31 million improvements for M6 near Wigan and St Helens"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>Contractors for Highways England are resurfacing a two-mile stretch of the M6 between junctions 23 and 25, equivalent to the size of seven rugby league pitches.<\/p>\n<p>Over 500 new reflective road studs are also being installed along the route, improving visibility, and road markings are being repainted.<\/p>\n<p>All of the work will be carried out overnight, between 9pm and 5am from Monday to Friday, to keep disruption to a minimum. Some lane and slip road closures will be in place, with drivers able to follow clearly-signed diversions.<\/p>\n<p>Philip Deller, Project Manager at Highways England, said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Over 100,000 vehicles use the stretch of the M6 between junctions 23 and 25 every day, so it\u2019s vital the motorway is well maintained.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019ll be resurfacing a stretch of motorway covering nearly two miles to remove potholes and provide smoother journeys for drivers. The new reflective road studs should also help to improve visibility<\/p>\n<p class=\"last-child\">All of the work is taking place overnight, when the motorway is at its quietest, so we can keep disruption to a minimum. We\u2019ll also have clearly-signed diversions in place when slip roads are closed.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The northbound entry and southbound exit slip roads at junction 24 near Ashton-in-Makerfield will be closed overnight on some occasions, along with the southbound entry slip road at junction 25 near Wigan.
