The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/the-low-carbon-vehicles-innovation-platform-an-impact-review\">impact review<\/a> was launched today at the CENEX LCV 2015 motor industry event.<\/p>\n<p>It reveals that:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>every \u00a31 invested by the <abbr title=\"The Low Carbon Vehicles Innovation Platform\">LCV IP<\/abbr> is forecast to return \u00a320 &#8211; \u00a334 over 15 years<\/li>\n<li>businesses estimate annual sales increases of \u00a32.9 billion over 15 years<\/li>\n<li>\u00a341 million investment support is forecast to add \u00a3820 million over 15 years<\/li>\n<li>businesses forecast they will create or protect up to 12,000 jobs over the next 15 years<\/li>\n<li>business attract private investment of more than 5 times the initial grant<\/li>\n<li>businesses have made capital investment of more than \u00a3519 million since completing their projects<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The <abbr title=\"The Low Carbon Vehicles Innovation Platform\">LCV IP<\/abbr> was set up in 2007. It works with the automotive industry to develop new technologies to increase energy efficiency, reduce emissions and optimise vehicle use. The <abbr title=\"The Low Carbon Vehicles Innovation Platform\">LCV IP<\/abbr> receives funding and support from Innovate UK, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/organisations\/office-for-low-emission-vehicles\">Office for Low Emission Vehicles<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/organisations\/department-for-business-innovation-skills\">Department for Business, Innovation and Skills<\/a> and the <a rel=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/www.epsrc.ac.uk\/\">Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Roland Meister, Head of Transport at Innovate UK said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Innovate UK provides consistent support to the sector, working with an industry-led advisory panel to help shape the technological direction and priorities for the Low Carbon Vehicles Innovation Platform.<\/p>\n<p class=\"last-child\">We\u2019re helping to drive forward economic growth in this highly productive sector already rich in export success. This is what our work is all about and the sector is a prime opportunity for patient investors.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The review focused on the 77 LCV projects completed up to 1 July 2014. These projects represent \u00a379 million of funding from Innovate UK and partners. Around 170 representatives from industry and higher education took part.
