{"id":62063,"date":"2015-09-24T11:54:00","date_gmt":"2015-09-24T11:54:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=a0004b190e345cd10254bd9def90e29c"},"modified":"2015-09-24T11:54:00","modified_gmt":"2015-09-24T11:54:00","slug":"news-story-agreement-to-promote-uk-online-exports-with-china","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=62063","title":{"rendered":"News story: Agreement to promote UK online exports with China"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/ministers\/secretary-of-state-for-business-innovation-and-skills\">Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS)<\/a>, Sajid Javid, signed a partnership agreement on behalf of UK Trade and Investment (<abbr title=\"UK Trade and Investment\">UKTI<\/abbr>) with the Shanghai Cross-Border e-Commerce Public Platform on 23 September 2015. <\/p>\n<p>The signing took place at the first ever China-UK Cross-Border e-commerce Cooperation Roundtable organised by the Bank of China in Shanghai. <\/p>\n<h2 id=\"support-for-uk-online-retailers\">Support for UK online retailers<\/h2>\n<p>The partnership was organised as part of <abbr title=\"UK Trade and Investment\">UKTI<\/abbr>\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/guidance\/e-exporting\">e-Exporting Programme<\/a>. The agreement will support UK exporters and help promote their online sales in China by helping them to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>find new customers<\/li>\n<li>build brand awareness<\/li>\n<li>analyse Chinese consumer requirements<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 id=\"partnership-agreement\">Partnership agreement<\/h2>\n<p>The Shanghai Cross-border e-commerce Public Platform will work with <abbr title=\"UK Trade and Investment\">UKTI<\/abbr> to: <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>provide help to UK companies wishing to sign up to e-commerce platforms registered in the <a rel=\"external\" href=\"http:\/\/en.china-shftz.gov.cn\/\">Shanghai Free Trade Zone<\/a> (<abbr title=\"Shanghai Free Trade Zone\">SFTZ<\/abbr>)<\/li>\n<li>encourage e-commerce platforms registered in the <abbr title=\"Shanghai Free Trade Zone\">SFTZ<\/abbr> to run a marketing campaign promoting UK brands on their platforms<\/li>\n<li>share information to help UK companies understand the opportunities in China and how they can be optimised through e-channels in the <abbr title=\"Shanghai Free Trade Zone\">SFTZ<\/abbr>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><abbr title=\"UK Trade and Investment\">UKTI<\/abbr> will work to grow the volume of UK online exports to China through the <abbr title=\"Shanghai Free Trade Zone\">SFTZ<\/abbr> e-marketplace by: <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>delivering a programme with UK partners to increase the number of companies seeking to export through global e-marketplaces <\/li>\n<li>promoting opportunities for UK companies to grow their business in China through e-marketplaces<\/li>\n<li>working with partners and private sector experts to provide peer to peer mentoring for UK companies seeking to export through e-channels<\/li>\n<li>delivering a retail and brands campaign across relevant e-commerce platforms in the <abbr title=\"Shanghai Free Trade Zone\">SFTZ<\/abbr>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 id=\"shanghai-cross-border-e-commerce-public-platform\">Shanghai Cross-border e-commerce Public Platform<\/h2>\n<p>The Shanghai Cross-border e-commerce Public Platform aims to share information and jointly solve problems such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>counterfeit products<\/li>\n<li>complicated customs procedures<\/li>\n<li>cross-border foreign exchange settlement<\/li>\n<li>exchange and refund<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The platform links the regulatory bodies (customs, foreign exchange, inspection and quarantine, and taxation) with sellers, consumers, payment institutions, logistics companies, and a China e-Port Data Centre.<\/p>\n<p>It was built by the Shanghai municipal government.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"further-e-commerce-agreements-in-china\">Further e-commerce agreements in China<\/h2>\n<p>The Bank of China will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with <abbr title=\"UK Trade and Investment\">UKTI<\/abbr> in October 2015. <\/p>\n<p>This will be followed by the release of a joint publication on China-UK cross-border e-commerce at a later date.
