{"id":62097,"date":"2015-09-25T06:13:37","date_gmt":"2015-09-25T06:13:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=888bd97879d584e5164d1f3df94b4d59"},"modified":"2015-09-25T06:13:37","modified_gmt":"2015-09-25T06:13:37","slug":"news-story-government-sells-further-1-shareholding-in-lloyds","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=62097","title":{"rendered":"News story: Government sells further 1% shareholding in Lloyds"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>The government has sold a further 1% shareholding in Lloyds Banking Group through the trading plan launched in December, taking the total raised for the taxpayer to \u00a315 billion and reducing the government\u2019s shareholding to below 12%. <\/p>\n<p>All sales are used to reduce the national debt. <\/p>\n<p>Chancellor of the Exchequer, George Osborne said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>It\u2019s fantastic news that we\u2019ve sold more shares in Lloyds Bank, taking the total recovered to \u00a315 billion.<\/p>\n<p class=\"last-child\">I am determined to build on this success, and to continue to return Lloyds to the private sector and reduce our national debt.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>A trading plan involves gradually selling shares in the market over time, in an orderly and measured way. <\/p>\n<p>The trading plan was launched on 17 December 2014 and will end no later than 31 December 2015. <\/p>\n<p>As required by Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) rules, Lloyds Banking Group announced today that the government\u2019s shareholding in the bank has crossed through a one percentage point threshold. <\/p>\n<p>This announcement therefore notifies the market that the government has reduced its shareholding in Lloyds to below 12%.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Lloyds share sales have now raised \u00a315 billion for the taxpayer.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":8,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[13],"tags":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/62097"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/8"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=62097"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/62097\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=62097"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=62097"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=62097"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
