{"id":62336,"date":"2015-09-30T23:15:00","date_gmt":"2015-09-30T23:15:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=2c00143518877637c0e61a252fc7e9bf"},"modified":"2015-09-30T23:15:00","modified_gmt":"2015-09-30T23:15:00","slug":"press-release-government-introduces-largest-ever-increase-to-apprentices-wages","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=62336","title":{"rendered":"Press release: Government introduces largest ever increase to apprentices\u2019 wages"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<div class=\"call-to-action\">\n<ul>\n<li>over 1 million working people will receive a pay rise today when the National Minimum Wage goes up<\/li>\n<li>apprentices get biggest ever rise <\/li>\n<li>over \u00a31,000 increase in yearly pay packet for full time apprentices<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p>From Thursday 1 October 2015, the apprentice rate of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/national-minimum-wage-rates\">National Minimum Wage<\/a> (<abbr title=\"National Minimum Wage\">NMW<\/abbr>) goes up by 57 pence to \u00a33.30 and the <abbr title=\"National Minimum Wage\">NMW<\/abbr> rate for adult workers will rise by 20 pence from \u00a36.50 to \u00a36.70 per hour.<\/p>\n<p>The boost for apprentices is the largest ever and means that those working 40 hours a week will now have \u00a31,185 more in their pay packet over the year.<\/p>\n<p>By implementing a rate higher than the Low Pay Commission\u2019s (<abbr title=\"Low Pay Commission\">LPC<\/abbr>) recommendation apprenticeships will deliver a wage that is comparable to other choices for work.<\/p>\n<p>The 3% increase in the adult rate is the biggest real increase since 2006 and moves the <abbr title=\"National Minimum Wage\">NMW<\/abbr> closer to the average wage than ever before. The new rate means that a full time employee, working 40 hours, will see the largest cash increase in their annual pay packets since 2008.<\/p>\n<p>Business Secretary Sajid Javid said: <\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>As a one nation government we are making sure that every part of Britain benefits from our growing economy and today more than 1.4 million of Britain\u2019s lowest-paid workers will be getting a well-deserved pay rise.<\/p>\n<p class=\"last-child\">The increase for apprentices is the largest in history making sure that apprenticeships remain an attractive option for young people. While the National Minimum Wage will see the largest real-terms increase since 2007.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>From 1 October 2015: <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the adult rate will increase by 20 pence to \u00a36.70 per hour<\/li>\n<li>the rate for 18 to 20 year olds will increase by 17 pence to \u00a35.30 per hour<\/li>\n<li>the rate for 16 to 17 year olds will increase by 8 pence to \u00a33.87 per hour<\/li>\n<li>the apprentice rate will increase by 57 pence to \u00a33.30 per hour<\/li>\n<li>the accommodation offset increases from the current \u00a35.08 to \u00a35.35<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 id=\"notes-to-editors\">Notes to editors:<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>The Apprentice Rate applies to all apprentices in year 1 of an apprenticeship, and 16 to 18 year old apprentices in any year of an apprenticeship.
