The issue affects diesel vehicles with EA 189 EU5 engines.<\/p>\n<p><abbr title=\"Volkswagen\">VW<\/abbr> has registered the issue with the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (<abbr title=\"Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency\">DVSA<\/abbr>), which is the government agency responsible for monitoring vehicle safety recalls and defects in Great Britain. <\/p>\n<p>If you own a vehicle that\u2019s affected, you\u2019ll be contacted by <abbr title=\"Volkswagen\">VW<\/abbr> telling you:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>what you need to do next<\/li>\n<li>who you should contact<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"call-to-action\">\n<p>You won\u2019t need to pay to get the problem fixed.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h2 id=\"protecting-the-public\">Protecting the public<\/h2>\n<p>Paul Satoor, <abbr title=\"Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency\">DVSA<\/abbr>\u2019s Deputy Chief Executive, said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Our priority is to protect the public.
