{"id":62685,"date":"2015-10-09T15:19:43","date_gmt":"2015-10-09T15:19:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=1f4d971ffb86e3dd86d18680e0faebd5"},"modified":"2015-10-09T15:19:43","modified_gmt":"2015-10-09T15:19:43","slug":"news-story-chancellor-announces-london-and-lima-stock-exchange-collaboration","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=62685","title":{"rendered":"News story: Chancellor announces London and Lima stock exchange collaboration"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>The Chancellor has today (9 October 2015) announced that the London Stock Exchange Group and the Lima Stock Exchange, Bolsa de Valores de Lima, will work together to enhance liquidity in Peruvian financial markets.<\/p>\n<p>Alongside this work, <abbr title=\"London Stock Exchange Group\">LSEG<\/abbr> and <abbr title=\"Bolsa de Valores de Lima\">BVL<\/abbr> will explore the possibility of collaborating on the ELITE Programme, the innovative business support programme for high growth private companies.<\/p>\n<p>The Lima Stock Exchange is a member of the Integrated Latin American Market (<abbr title=\"Integrated Latin American Market\">MILA<\/abbr>), which brings together the stock exchanges of the dynamic set of Pacific Alliance countries, namely Mexico, Colombia, Chile and Peru. <abbr title=\"Integrated Latin American Market\">MILA<\/abbr> is the eighth largest market in the world and the largest in Latin America by number of listed companies.<\/p>\n<p>The scale of <abbr title=\"Integrated Latin American Market\">MILA<\/abbr> will attract greater international interest and reduce costs over time. The wealth of experience that the <abbr title=\"London Stock Exchange Group\">LSEG<\/abbr> has in hosting a deep and liquid global capital market will be of significant value in helping grow <abbr title=\"Integrated Latin American Market\">MILA<\/abbr> over time.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the <abbr title=\"International Monetary Fund\">IMF<\/abbr> Annual Meetings in Lima, Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osborne said: <\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"last-child\">I am delighted to announce a collaboration between the London Stock Exchange Group and Bolsa de Valores de Lima.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"last-child\">A hundred years ago, 50% of foreign investment in Latin America came from the UK. And given the region\u2019s huge growth potential, the opportunities for UK investors are once again tremendous.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"last-child\">The UK is the natural partner for Latin America\u2019s international financing needs. UK-based financial institutions can help provide access to international capital via London, supporting growth in Peru and across Latin America.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h3 id=\"further-information\">Further information<\/h3>\n<p><abbr title=\"London Stock Exchange Group\">LSEG<\/abbr> and <abbr title=\"Bolsa de Valores de Lima\">BVL<\/abbr> will identify and implement new measures to enhance liquidity in the Peruvian equity market. <\/p>\n<p>The scope of the work includes enhancements across the capital market value chain within Peru including primary, trading and post-trading activities, and an assessment of the market micro structure, market rules, technology and the legal and regulatory framework.<\/p>\n<p>ELITE is a programme run by the London Stock Exchange Group to help <abbr title=\"small and medium-sized enterprises\">SMEs<\/abbr> grow. It currently has operations in the UK, Italy, Spain and Europe.
