{"id":62756,"date":"2015-10-12T16:54:55","date_gmt":"2015-10-12T16:54:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=901078420815b0366a25bfa352bf68f7"},"modified":"2015-10-12T16:54:55","modified_gmt":"2015-10-12T16:54:55","slug":"press-release-uk-minister-pledges-support-for-nigerias-energy-prosperity-and-security","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=62756","title":{"rendered":"Press release: UK Minister pledges support for Nigeria\u2019s energy, prosperity and security"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>Arriving in Abuja, Grant Shapps praised the UK\u2019s close relationship with Nigeria and set out how the two countries will work together to increase prosperity, trade and security.<\/p>\n<p>During his visit he will meet with ministers and senior government officials, including Vice President Yemi Osibajo, the National Security Adviser Babagana Monguno and the Kaduna and Lagos State Governors.<\/p>\n<p>He will also see how the UK\u2019s investment in Nigeria\u2019s solar energy market can provide a clean and reliable answer to the country\u2019s problem of energy access.<\/p>\n<p>Grant Shapps said: <\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>The UK has a strong relationship with Nigeria and we will continue to promote vital investment, tackle corruption and create a safer and more prosperous future for the country.<\/p>\n<p>From a trade relationship worth over \u00a36 billion every year to our military cooperation against Boko Haram, Nigeria is a country whose security and prosperity truly matters to the UK.<\/p>\n<p>With more than half of Nigeria currently living without electricity, it is vital that more people can access clean and reliable solar energy.
