This free seminar will explore the main approaches taken in the UK to understanding and describing the impact of interventions and programmes. <\/p>\n

Stephen will commence with a review of study designs adopting a counterfactual approach \u2013 particularly Randomised Controlled Trials (RCTs). He will also discuss some of the limitations of these approaches and highlight when and where they are most effectively deployed. <\/p>\n

Finally, Stephen will review theory-based approaches as alternatives, including realist methods, and also suggest circumstances where these methods may be preferable.<\/p>\n
