{"id":64067,"date":"2015-11-12T16:02:21","date_gmt":"2015-11-12T16:02:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=2d411a9adbe75dfaeed4d98734c53697"},"modified":"2015-11-12T16:02:21","modified_gmt":"2015-11-12T16:02:21","slug":"news-story-cma-opens-consultation-on-reed-elsevier-undertakings","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=64067","title":{"rendered":"News story: CMA opens consultation on Reed Elsevier undertakings"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>In September 2015, the Competition and Markets Authority (<abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr>) announced <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/news\/cma-considers-remedies-in-family-law-information-merger\">it would consider in detail  undertakings proposed<\/a> by Reed Elsevier (UK) Limited instead of referring the case for an in-depth merger investigation.<\/p>\n<p>Reed Elsevier has offered to sell 4 titles, one in each of the 3 areas of the market where the <abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr> identified a realistic prospect of a substantial lessening of competition, and one additional title, as well as licences to certain family law precedents, to an upfront purchaser, namely Bloomsbury Professional, a publisher of legal, tax and financial regulatory materials. The additional title and related precedents are expected to assist Bloomsbury Professional to ensure the timely and effective implementation of the remedy package to solve the competition concerns identified by the <abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr>. <\/p>\n<p>The <abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr> proposes to accept the proposed undertakings, which it currently considers are appropriate to remedy its competition concerns.<\/p>\n<p>Before reaching a final decision, it is inviting interested parties to make their views known.
