{"id":64110,"date":"2015-11-13T12:05:20","date_gmt":"2015-11-13T12:05:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=ce6ee0ad762ab4c4d958f12102e1c8fe"},"modified":"2015-11-13T12:05:20","modified_gmt":"2015-11-13T12:05:20","slug":"news-story-army-reserve-centre-undergoes-1-275-million-refurbishment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=64110","title":{"rendered":"News story: Army Reserve Centre undergoes \u00a31.275 million refurbishment"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>The building, home to Headquarters Company and 118 Recovery Company of 104 Battalion, Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (<abbr title=\"Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers\">REME<\/abbr>), required refurbishment to improve the operational and training capability of the battalion.<\/p>\n<p>The work has included refurbishing offices, the conference room and officers\u2019 and sergeants\u2019 messes; converting rooms to provide additional offices; providing new classroom facilities; reflooring the drill hall and removing a false ceiling. <\/p>\n<p>The building was Grade 2 listed in 1998, meaning that all work had to comply with relevant legislation and restrictions on appearance. <\/p>\n<p>David Brookes, <abbr title=\"Defence Infrastructure Organisation\">DIO<\/abbr>\u2019s Requirements Manager for the project, said: <\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"last-child\">The Clare Street premises required a significant overhaul to make them suitable for the requirements of 104 Battalion <abbr title=\"Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers\">REME<\/abbr>. As with any listed building, there were challenges involved in the work but the team worked very well to complete the project to a high standard and in keeping with the Grade 2 listing.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Clare Hill, <abbr title=\"East Midlands Reserve Forces and Cadet Association\">EMRFCA<\/abbr> Project Manager, said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"last-child\">We\u2019re really pleased with how the work at the Army Reserve Centre has turned out.
