{"id":64223,"date":"2015-11-16T13:00:08","date_gmt":"2015-11-16T13:00:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=a5c09b3c3db524d190dccc812e348d21"},"modified":"2015-11-16T13:00:08","modified_gmt":"2015-11-16T13:00:08","slug":"press-release-experts-to-discuss-scottish-competition-and-consumer-issues","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=64223","title":{"rendered":"Press release: Experts to discuss Scottish competition and consumer issues"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>The 3 meetings, to be held at different venues on 17 November 2015, will be attended by members of the Competition and Markets Authority\u2019s (<abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr>) board, which will also be holding its board meeting the following day at the <abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr> offices in central Edinburgh.<\/p>\n<p>The meetings, attended by businesses, consumer groups, government and other experts, will consider important aspects of effective markets in Scotland:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>disruptive technologies and big data &#8211; including the economics of data, ownership and delivering the right outcomes for consumers<\/li>\n<li>infrastructure, transport and public services &#8211; including procurement, government intervention in markets, and regulatory frameworks <\/li>\n<li>disadvantaged consumers &#8211; considering their access to markets and the \u2018poverty premium\u2019<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The discussions will inform the <abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr>\u2019s future work programme as well as the Scottish government\u2019s development of a strategic assessment of markets in Scotland. <\/p>\n<p>David Currie, <abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr> Chairman, said: <\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"last-child\">It is important that markets work well for consumers, businesses and the economy in Scotland as for the rest of the UK.
