Secretary of State for Northern Ireland Theresa Villiers leads these talks.<\/p>\n<h4 id=\"september-1\">10 September<\/h4>\n<p>The Prime Minister <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/news\/downing-street-statement-on-northern-ireland\">rejects<\/a> requests to introduce emergency legislation to suspend the Assembly, but promises to explore what more the UK Government could do to address remaining paramilitary activity in Northern Ireland.<\/p>\n<h4 id=\"september-2\">20 September<\/h4>\n<p>The Secretary of State commissions and publishes a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/uploads\/system\/uploads\/attachment_data\/file\/469548\/Paramilitary_Groups_in_Northern_Ireland_-_20_Oct_2015.pdf\">factual assessment<\/a> from the UK security agencies and the PSNI on the structure, role and purpose of paramilitary organisations in Northern Ireland.<\/p>\n<h4 id=\"september-3\">29 September<\/h4>\n<p>The Secretary of State <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/news\/statement-by-secretary-of-state-for-northern-ireland--2\">stresses<\/a> the need for an agreement to be made soon, to address paramilitary activity and implement the Stormont House Agreement in full.<\/p>\n<h4 id=\"november\">17 November<\/h4>\n<p>A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/news\/a-fresh-start-for-northern-ireland\">deal<\/a> is reached!
