The event was hosted by BAE Combat Systems (UK) at their site in Telford, Shropshire. <\/p>\n<p>Officials from <abbr title=\"UK Trade and Investment\">UKTI<\/abbr> and Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (<abbr title=\"Department for Business, Innovation and Skills\">BIS<\/abbr>) gave a number of presentations covering a wide range of advice, information and support. <\/p>\n<p>There were also presentations from industry and an exhibition of local <abbr title=\"Small Medium Enterprise\">SME<\/abbr> services, organised by the <abbr title=\"UK Trade and Investment\">UKTI<\/abbr> West Midlands International Trade Team.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"speakers\">Speakers<\/h2>\n<p>The VIP speakers were:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Stephen Phipson, Head of <abbr title=\"UK Trade and Investment Defence and Security Organisation\">UKTI DSO<\/abbr>: who delivered the Keynote presentation <\/li>\n<li>Derek Higginbotham, BAE Combat Systems\u2019 Commercial and Procurement Director: who gave a useful insight into how BAE Systems increases its supply chain by seeking and embracing new business solutions<\/li>\n<li>Robin King, CEO of Deep Secure Ltd, a local thriving cyber security company: shared his experience of working with <abbr title=\"UK Trade and Investment\">UKTI<\/abbr> and encouraged other <abbr title=\"Small Medium Enterprises\">SMEs<\/abbr> to do so<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 id=\"specialist-briefing\">Specialist briefing<\/h2>\n<p><abbr title=\"UK Trade and Investment\">UKTI<\/abbr> and <abbr title=\"Department for Business, Innovation and Skills\">BIS<\/abbr> briefed delegates on a variety of defence, security and related services, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>a global statistical overview of the defence\/security export market and a forward look<\/li>\n<li>\n<abbr title=\"UK Trade and Investment Defence and Security Organisation\">UKTI DSO<\/abbr>\u2019s global marketing support package<\/li>\n<li>military assistance, with a particular focus on cyber and communications equipment and services<\/li>\n<li>local \/ regional support via <abbr title=\"UK Trade and Investment\">UKTI<\/abbr>\u2019s international trade team network<\/li>\n<li>increasing media awareness and usage<\/li>\n<li>an examination of the export licensing process<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 id=\"exhibition\">Exhibition<\/h2>\n<p>The West Midlands International Trade Team organised an exhibition of some 20 local <abbr title=\"Small Medium Enterprises\">SMEs<\/abbr>, supported by the ADS Trade Association and the <abbr title=\"UK Trade and Investment Defence and Security Organisation\">UKTI DSO<\/abbr> Military Export Support Team (EST). <\/p>\n<p>The exhibition proved popular during the breakout sessions and offered networking opportunities.
