{"id":64847,"date":"2015-12-01T14:00:02","date_gmt":"2015-12-01T14:00:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=ce6342ca286d5b0a1076017f7b50eb6b"},"modified":"2015-12-01T14:00:02","modified_gmt":"2015-12-01T14:00:02","slug":"news-story-cma-looks-in-detail-at-car-auction-merger-undertakings","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=64847","title":{"rendered":"News story: CMA looks in detail at car auction merger undertakings"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>Last month the Competition and Markets Authority (<abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr>) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/news\/car-auction-merger-prompts-competition-concerns-in-north-east\">announced<\/a> its concerns that the acquisition could lead to higher prices \u2013 or a reduction in choice or quality of service \u2013 for customers of used vehicle auction services at sites in the Newcastle area. <abbr title=\"BCA Marketplace plc\">BCA<\/abbr> Marketplace plc (<abbr title=\"BCA Marketplace plc\">BCA<\/abbr>) and <abbr title=\"SMA Vehicle Remarketing Ltd\">SMA<\/abbr> Vehicle Remarketing Ltd (<abbr title=\"SMA Vehicle Remarketing Ltd\">SMA<\/abbr>) both provide used vehicle auction services in the <abbr title=\"United Kingdom\">UK<\/abbr>.<\/p>\n<p>The <abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr> added that <abbr title=\"BCA Marketplace plc\">BCA<\/abbr> could avoid an in-depth phase 2 merger investigation if it offered an acceptable solution to remedy the <abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr>\u2019s competition concerns in a clear-cut, effective and timely manner.<\/p>\n<p>As a result, <abbr title=\"BCA Marketplace plc\">BCA<\/abbr> offers undertakings comprising the sale of a site in the Newcastle area to a buyer able to remedy the competition concerns identified by the <abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr>.<\/p>\n<p>The <abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr> has decided that there are reasonable grounds for believing that the undertakings offered by <abbr title=\"BCA Marketplace plc\">BCA<\/abbr>, or a modified version of them, might be accepted in lieu of a reference to a phase 2 investigation.<\/p>\n<p>The <abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr> now has until 29 January 2016 to consider whether to accept the undertakings, or a modified version.
