{"id":65142,"date":"2015-12-08T12:15:12","date_gmt":"2015-12-08T12:15:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=f2c96e992bbfba26dfc2cd28a9a17688"},"modified":"2015-12-08T12:15:12","modified_gmt":"2015-12-08T12:15:12","slug":"news-story-cma-invites-comments-on-serviced-office-space-merger-remedy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=65142","title":{"rendered":"News story: CMA invites comments on serviced office space merger remedy"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>On 18 November 2015, the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/news\/office-space-merger-prompts-cma-concerns-in-central-london\">announced<\/a> that it would refer the acquisition for an in-depth investigation unless Regus plc (Regus) offered acceptable undertakings to address the CMA\u2019s concerns.<\/p>\n<p>As a result, Regus has offered to sell the Avanta Serviced Office Group plc (Avanta) centres located in the Hammersmith, Victoria, Canary Wharf\/Docklands, Euston\/King\u2019s Cross and Paddington areas of central London to a suitable purchaser (or purchasers). Regus has also offered a behavioural undertaking in relation to the Hammersmith centre, in the event that the landlord decides to terminate Avanta\u2019s lease early and a suitable purchaser therefore cannot be found for that centre. The behavioural undertaking would limit Regus\u2019 ability to raise prices or reduce quality at the Hammersmith centre until the lease terminates.<\/p>\n<p>On 2 December 2015, the CMA announced that it would <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/news\/cma-looks-in-detail-at-office-space-merger-remedy\">look in detail at these undertakings<\/a>. The CMA has until 1 February 2016 to consider whether to accept the undertakings, or a modified version of them. As part of this process, the CMA is now consulting publicly on whether the proposals are sufficient to address the CMA\u2019s competition concerns.<\/p>\n<p>Before reaching a final decision, the CMA is therefore inviting interested parties to make their views known.
