{"id":65206,"date":"2015-12-09T09:30:22","date_gmt":"2015-12-09T09:30:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=d15116c8f81da8c850e91d3bf3bc5ec6"},"modified":"2015-12-09T09:30:22","modified_gmt":"2015-12-09T09:30:22","slug":"press-release-uk-nsc-hosting-first-stakeholder-conference-delivering-world-class-recommendations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=65206","title":{"rendered":"Press release: UK NSC hosting first stakeholder conference: delivering world-class recommendations"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>The UK National Screening Committee (<abbr title=\"United Kingdom National Screening Committee\">UK NSC<\/abbr>) is today (9 December 2015) hosting its first ever stakeholder conference: Delivering world-class recommendations, in London.    <\/p>\n<p>One of the main aims of this inaugural event will be to review some of the key screening recommendations that the <abbr title=\"United Kingdom National Screening Committee\">UK NSC<\/abbr> made during 2014 to 2015. <\/p>\n<p>These recommendations include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>atrial fibrillation screening in adults<\/li>\n<li>expanded newborn blood spot screening (with the addition of <abbr title=\"Glutaric aciduria type 1\">GA1<\/abbr>, <abbr title=\"Homocystinuria\">HCU<\/abbr>, <abbr title=\"Isovaleric acidaemia\">IVA<\/abbr> and <abbr title=\"Maple syrup urine disease\">MSUD<\/abbr> and recommendation not to recommend the addition of <abbr title=\"Long chain 3-hydroxyacyl-CoA dehydrogenase deficiency\">LCHADD<\/abbr>)  <\/li>\n<li>preterm labour screening in pregnancy <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The event, which will be attended by key stakeholders, including health charities, consultants, patient advisory groups, commissioners and GPs, will provide an excellent opportunity for delegates to hear about the role the <abbr title=\"United Kingdom National Screening Committee\">UK NSC<\/abbr> and its stakeholders play in shaping recommendations on screening. In addition, it will enable delegates to find out more about the <abbr title=\"United Kingdom National Screening Committee\">UK NSC<\/abbr> in terms of:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>who we are<\/li>\n<li>the reasons for the recommendations we made on those 3 reviews<\/li>\n<li>other recommendations we made in 2014 and 2015<\/li>\n<li>the process we follow and future screening reviews<\/li>\n<li>how we hope to improve and involve stakeholders going forward <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Dr Anne Mackie, Director of Programmes for the <abbr title=\"United Kingdom National Screening Committee\">UK NSC<\/abbr>, said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>We are delighted to be hosting the first ever <abbr title=\"United Kingdom National Screening Committee\">UK NSC<\/abbr> stakeholder conference.<\/p>\n<p>This event is a great opportunity to spend a day with some of our stakeholders. We hope that the day will help them to get a clearer understanding of the evidence-based process used by the <abbr title=\"United Kingdom National Screening Committee\">UK NSC<\/abbr> when deciding on screening recommendations.<\/p>\n<p class=\"last-child\">It will also, equally importantly, provide us with the opportunity to hear from and listen to some of our stakeholders.
