{"id":65346,"date":"2015-12-11T12:38:50","date_gmt":"2015-12-11T12:38:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=b1fe72ca8e69c85b3b16f7e03f2376be"},"modified":"2015-12-11T12:38:50","modified_gmt":"2015-12-11T12:38:50","slug":"news-story-more-beds-completed-for-carrier-crew","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=65346","title":{"rendered":"News story: More beds completed for carrier crew"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>The 2 future aircraft carriers of the Royal Navy, HMS Queen Elizabeth and HMS Prince of Wales, are currently being built and fitted out in Rosyth. <abbr title=\"Defence Infrastructure Organisation\">DIO<\/abbr> runs <abbr title=\"Ministry of Defence\">MOD<\/abbr> Caledonia and is supporting the carrier programme by providing site security, messing and recreational facilities, and accommodation for the carrier\u2019s crew.<\/p>\n<p>Before the project commenced, <abbr title=\"Ministry of Defence\">MOD<\/abbr> Caledonia had 422 suitable bed spaces, which <abbr title=\"Defence Infrastructure Organisation\">DIO<\/abbr> calculated was 302 fewer than needed. The first phase of the work, a total of 36 cabins, was handed over to <abbr title=\"Ministry of Defence\">MOD<\/abbr> Caledonia on schedule in August and the latest phase of 79 cabins is now complete.<\/p>\n<p>The completion of the cabins comes shortly after a visit to <abbr title=\"Ministry of Defence\">MOD<\/abbr> Caledonia by the Defence Secretary Michaell Fallon, during which he toured the accommodation and met personnel using the new rooms.<\/p>\n<p><abbr title=\"Defence Infrastructure Organisation\">DIO<\/abbr> Head of Establishment Peter Bush said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"last-child\">These new modular cabins were the best choice as they can be set up quickly and considerably more cheaply than building new accommodation from scratch in the traditional way.
