{"id":66062,"date":"2016-01-04T16:39:00","date_gmt":"2016-01-04T16:39:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=3bbe7ec6e37453f41fa87341b707e49d"},"modified":"2016-01-04T16:39:00","modified_gmt":"2016-01-04T16:39:00","slug":"news-story-majority-of-bps-2015-claimants-have-now-been-paid","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=66062","title":{"rendered":"News story: Majority of BPS 2015 claimants have now been paid"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>The majority of farmers who are eligible for <abbr title=\"Basic Payment Scheme\">BPS<\/abbr> 2015 have now been paid, the Rural Payments Agency (<abbr title=\"Rural Payments Agency\">RPA<\/abbr>) has announced. This amounts to just under \u00a3425 million reaching the bank accounts of 44,400 farmers, almost 51% of all claimants. <\/p>\n<p>Environment Secretary Elizabeth Truss said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>I can confirm the <abbr title=\"Rural Payments Agency\">RPA<\/abbr> has met its commitment to pay the majority of eligible claims in December and remains on track to pay the vast majority of claims by the end of January.<\/p>\n<p class=\"last-child\">We understand the importance of these payments to our hard-working farmers and the <abbr title=\"Rural Payments Agency\">RPA<\/abbr> will continue to work flat out to ensure the agency meets its commitment to pay the remaining claims as quickly as possible.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>More complex claims will take longer to process and are therefore likely to take longer to pay, as they did under the Single Payment Scheme.<\/p>\n<p>The <abbr title=\"Rural Payments Agency\">RPA<\/abbr> will provide an update to those claimants who are unlikely to be paid by the end of January and an estimate as to when they will be paid to help them manage their cash flow. <\/p>\n<p>In addition the Forestry Commission (<abbr title=\"Forestry Commission\">FC<\/abbr>) has also paid out over a third of capital payments, totalling \u00a38million to woodland owners to protect, improve and expand woodlands in England. <abbr title=\"Forestry Commission\">FC<\/abbr> has also paid out 32% of valid annual claims worth just under \u00a33million, and work is ongoing to pay outstanding valid annual claims as soon as possible.<\/p>\n<p>The 2016 version of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/guidance\/guide-to-cross-compliance-in-england-2016\">\u2018The guide to cross compliance in England\u2019<\/a> is now available on GOV.UK.
