{"id":66083,"date":"2016-01-05T12:34:44","date_gmt":"2016-01-05T12:34:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=96a47bc46d82e7d4e8e9d57fb1a73367"},"modified":"2016-01-05T12:34:44","modified_gmt":"2016-01-05T12:34:44","slug":"press-release-new-national-schools-commissioner-appointed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=66083","title":{"rendered":"Press release: New National Schools Commissioner appointed"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>A new National Schools Commissioner has been appointed by the Department for Education.<\/p>\n<p>Sir David Carter, currently the Regional Schools Commissioner (<abbr title=\"regional school commissioners\">RSC<\/abbr>) for the South West, will succeed Frank Green who completes his term as Schools Commissioner at the end of January 2016.<\/p>\n<p>Sir David will play a key role in the government\u2019s education reforms, leading the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/organisations\/schools-commissioners-group\/about\/our-governance\">team of 8 RSCs<\/a> to tackle underperformance and ensure all schools across the country are providing their pupils with an excellent education. This will include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>supporting the creation of new academies and free schools<\/li>\n<li>intervening in failing and coasting local authority schools, exercising the new powers to be introduced through the <a rel=\"external\" href=\"http:\/\/services.parliament.uk\/bills\/2015-16\/educationandadoption.html\">Education and Adoption Bill<\/a> currently before Parliament<\/li>\n<li>recruiting high-quality academy sponsors<\/li>\n<li>improving the performance of underperforming academies and free schools<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Sir David Carter has previously worked as the <abbr title=\"chief executive officer\">CEO<\/abbr> of the highly successful Cabot Learning Federation, 1 of the first multi-academy trusts in the country.
