These emails state:<\/p>\n<div class=\"call-to-action\">\n<p>\u201cThe document attached is an official requisition, reminder or letter from Land Registry. It is not a circular and relates either to an application you have lodged with us or a property in which you have an interest. No paper copy of the item of correspondence will be sent to you.<\/p>\n<p>The document is in \u2018Portable Document Format\u2019 (HTML) which replicates the appearance of the hard copy version. You will need to open the document with your internet browser\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h2 id=\"how-to-identify-phishing-emails\">How to identify phishing emails<\/h2>\n<p>If you\u2019re unsure whether an email you\u2019ve received is genuine, you should start by examining the domain of the sender address. This is found in the email\u2019s \u201cFrom\u201d field.<\/p>\n<p>Genuine Land Registry emails have a sender domain ending in .gov.uk, eg Fylde.OfficeMail [Fylde.Office@landregistry.gsi.gov.uk]<\/p>\n<p>Current phishing emails are using our office names but are being sent from other email domains, eg Fylde.OfficeMail [office2@glowmninded.com] as shown below.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"image embedded\">\n<div class=\"img\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Always check the sender's email address domain\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.digital.cabinet-office.gov.uk\/government\/uploads\/system\/uploads\/image_data\/file\/48363\/annotated-email.png\"><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<h2 id=\"what-to-do\">What to do<\/h2>\n<p>If you think that you\u2019ve received a fraudulent email claiming to be from Land Registry, please follow these steps:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\n<p>Do not open the attachment or follow any links, as this may infect your computer with a virus. Computer viruses can help criminals to steal data from your computer<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Do not reply to the email<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Forward the email to <a href=\"mailto:phishing@landregistry.gsi.gov.uk\">phishing@landregistry.gsi.gov.uk<\/a>.
