The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP<\/abbr>) announced today that Museji Ahmed Takolia CBE has been appointed Chair of The Pensions Advisory Service (TPAS<\/abbr>). <\/p>\n

TPAS<\/abbr> is an independent body which provides free information and guidance to the public on private pension matters delivered by a nationwide network of volunteer advisers. In the past year it has helped over 1.7 million people find the answers to their pension questions. <\/p>\n

The Chair is responsible for the overall direction of the TPAS<\/abbr> and Mr Takolia was selected for the huge wealth of experience he has, working with organisations in the charitable sector, local and central government.<\/p>\n

Mr Takolia is also a proven champion of savers and investor\u2019s rights from his role as Chair of the Members Panel at NEST<\/abbr> \u2013 the National Employment Savings Trust. <\/p>\n

Minister for Pensions, Baroness Ros Altmann said:<\/p>\n

I am pleased to announce that Museji Ahmed Takolia will be the next Chair of The Pensions Advisory Service. This service does excellent work in helping the public with pension inquiries.<\/p>\n

He has made an impressive contribution as Chair of the NEST<\/abbr> Members Panel, helping to protect and promote the interest of savers so they can enjoy a financially secure retirement.<\/p>\n

Museji brings a breadth of leadership experience across a range of public services and his insights into the pension landscape will be invaluable. I look forward to working with him.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Mr Takolia will take up his post from 1 February 2016 for a four-year term and will replace Geoff Shanks, acting Chair, who stands down on 31 January. <\/p>\n

The Chair of the Pensions Advisory service is appointed by the Secretary of State for the DWP<\/abbr>. This appointment was made following an open competition regulated by The Office for the Commissioner of Public Appointments. <\/p>\n

TPAS<\/abbr> is an independent organisation that is grant-aided by the DWP<\/abbr>. They have a workforce of paid pensions specialists, supported by hundreds of expert volunteer advisers across the UK, who have many years\u2019 experience working in the pensions industry. They give their time and expertise for free to help others with their pensions.<\/p>\n
