{"id":66965,"date":"2016-01-28T11:02:35","date_gmt":"2016-01-28T11:02:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=fc6e515864be9093b5a6c172b330267e"},"modified":"2016-01-28T11:02:35","modified_gmt":"2016-01-28T11:02:35","slug":"news-story-bis-to-close-sheffield-office","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=66965","title":{"rendered":"News story: BIS to close Sheffield office"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>Plans to start the process to close the <abbr title=\"Department for Business, Innovation and Skills\">BIS<\/abbr> office in Sheffield (St Paul\u2019s Place) by 2018 have been announced today (28 January 2016) by the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills Permanent Secretary Martin Donnelly.<\/p>\n<p>The move will create a combined central <abbr title=\"headquarters\">HQ<\/abbr> and policy centre in London.<\/p>\n<p>Around 6 business centres will also be established across the country. Each one will focus on a key business activity so that <abbr title=\"Department for Business, Innovation and Skills\">BIS<\/abbr> can bring the relevant expertise together, move people quickly to new priorities and build capability.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the Sheffield offices this morning, Martin Donnelly said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Today\u2019s announcement is part of implementing our <abbr title=\"Department for Business, Innovation and Skills\">BIS<\/abbr> 2020 strategic plans to modernise the way we work, reduce operating costs and deliver a simpler, smaller department that is more flexible and responsive to stakeholders and businesses.<\/p>\n<p>Our operating model needs to be designed in a way that works for this smaller workforce with more streamlined structures.<\/p>\n<p>The decision to close Sheffield by 2018 has not been taken lightly. The unions are being consulted and will be involved throughout the process.<\/p>\n<p>It is my top priority that all our staff are fully briefed and consulted on the process.
