This is rapidly changing the face of financial services in the Nordic-Baltic region.  <\/p>\n<p>The 25 Nordic-Baltic fintech companies will be developing relationships with the vibrant fintech communities in the City of London. <\/p>\n<p>Christina Schi\u00f8tt Liaos, Director for <abbr title=\"Uk Trade and Investment\">UKTI<\/abbr> in the Nordic-Baltic region, said <\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>UK Trade and Investment is pleased to be providing support to such an innovative group of Nordic-Baltic companies so that they can learn from the thriving fintech industry in London and look for opportunities for collaboration and expansion.<\/p>\n<p class=\"last-child\">Equally, we want to showcase the Nordic-Baltic fintech offering &#8211; it is a rapidly changing environment in this region and now is the right time for British companies to look to do business here.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<div class=\"call-to-action\">\n<p>Contact <a href=\"mailto:Christina.liaos@mobile.ukti.gov.uk\">Christina.liaos@mobile.ukti.gov.uk<\/a> for a copy of <abbr title=\"Uk Trade and Investment\">UKTI<\/abbr>\/Finextra report \u2018Fintech: UK-Nordic-Baltic Cooperation\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>The report is only available to UK companies.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h2 id=\"fintech-in-london\">Fintech in London<\/h2>\n<p>The UK financial services sector accounts for approximately 9.4% of UK Gross Domestic Product (GDP).  <\/p>\n<p>London is the digital heart of the UK with: <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>more fintech start-ups than anywhere else in Europe<\/li>\n<li>more people employed in the industry than both Silicon Valley and New York <\/li>\n<li>Europe\u2019s largest fintech accelerator, <a rel=\"external\" href=\"http:\/\/www.level39.co\/\">Level39<\/a> which is home to some 170 companies<\/li>\n<li>other fintech spaces such as Startup Boot Camp Fintech and Barclays Fintech Accelerator<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Elena Williams, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of <abbr title=\"Uk Trade and Investment\">UKTI<\/abbr>\u2019s Financial Services Organisation (FSO), said,<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>We are delighted to welcome this delegation with the support of the Lord Mayor.<\/p>\n<p>The UK\u2019s offer as a global centre of excellence for fintech and London\u2019s vibrant ecosystem, is an attractive platform for companies looking to grow their business.<\/p>\n<p class=\"last-child\">We are confident that this mission will provide opportunities for the Nordics-Baltics delegation to explore the strengths of the UK\u2019s inward investment offer.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h2 id=\"future-shape-of-banking-event\">Future Shape of Banking event<\/h2>\n<p><a rel=\"external\" href=\"http:\/\/www.londonandpartners.com\/\">London &amp; partners<\/a> will facilitate the first session of the day. This will have a specific focus on what it takes to operate in the fintech environment of the UK. The delegation will meet the UK fintech community to: <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>explore the legal side of fintech from a regulatory perspective<\/li>\n<li>explore nascent fintech regulation<\/li>\n<li>meet exciting fintech accelerators who can help facilitate UK market entry for foreign fintech companies<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In the afternoon, over 200 guests from the UK fintech ecosystem will meet the Nordic-Baltic companies at a session in Mansion House. This will be hosted by the Lord Mayor of the City of London, \u2018Alderman The Lord Mountevans\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Discussion will evolve around the factors impacting innovation and digitalisation in finance which necessitate cross border cooperation including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>regulation<\/li>\n<li>the Directive of Payment Services (PSD2)<\/li>\n<li>rapid pace of technological evolution<\/li>\n<li>changing customer demand<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Selected Nordic-Baltic companies are invited to pitch their fintech business ideas to an investor audience highlighting their fintech innovation in action. <\/p>\n<h2 id=\"fintech-cooperation\">Fintech cooperation<\/h2>\n<p>During the past 9 months <abbr title=\"Uk Trade and Investment\">UKTI<\/abbr> has run a campaign \u2018UK- Nordic-Baltic Shaping the Future of Banking\u2019. This has focused on the fintech strengths existing in both the UK and the Nordic-Baltic countries and seeking ways to work together to shape the banking sector.<\/p>\n<p>The idea is that by working together the strong fintech companies from the UK and the Nordic-Baltic region can shape the future of banking, globally.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"background\">Background<\/h2>\n<p><abbr title=\"Uk Trade and Investment\">UKTI<\/abbr>, in cooperation with Finextra, has already delivered 3 focused conferences in Copenhagen, Tallinn and Stockholm.
