{"id":67272,"date":"2016-02-04T14:18:41","date_gmt":"2016-02-04T14:18:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=fc257674ae3f88043dae4f55a7ef560d"},"modified":"2016-02-04T14:18:41","modified_gmt":"2016-02-04T14:18:41","slug":"press-release-next-stage-of-work-to-start-on-a38-merafield-bridge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=67272","title":{"rendered":"Press release: Next stage of work to start on A38 Merafield Bridge"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>Work to install the new \u00a36.4 million Merafield Bridge over the A38 at Plympton is continuing with additional lane and overnight closures required from next Monday, 8 February.<\/p>\n<p>Next week the current arrangement of three lanes will be changed in each direction to two lanes on approximately a two mile stretch of the A38 for six weeks, while new drainage is installed and additional equipment, including a 750 tonne crane, is brought onto the site.<\/p>\n<p>Highways England project manager Justin Marr said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Construction of the bridge pier is well advanced and once completed; the next stage of the work will involve lifting the new bridge structure into place.<\/p>\n<p class=\"last-child\">We would like to thank road users for their continued patience while we carry out this important improvement work, which is being completed as quickly as possible.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Installation of the new bridge structure is programmed to start on Monday, 22 February for seven nights. This will require overnight closures of the A38 for approximately 4 miles between Forder Valley and Deep Lane to enable the steel beams and concrete deck units to be lifted into place.<\/p>\n<p>The final sections will be installed over two nights, commencing Thursday, 17 March.
