{"id":67713,"date":"2016-02-18T08:30:06","date_gmt":"2016-02-18T08:30:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=8aa5361d3e9db7143dad2703ab253db1"},"modified":"2016-02-18T08:30:06","modified_gmt":"2016-02-18T08:30:06","slug":"news-story-security-and-countering-violent-extremism-on-the-agenda-at-the-quintet-of-attorneys-general-in-washington","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=67713","title":{"rendered":"News story: Security and countering violent extremism on the agenda at the Quintet of Attorneys General in Washington"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>The Attorney General Jeremy Wright QC MP joined the Home Secretary Theresa May at the event, which ran from February 16-17.<\/p>\n<p>Topics on the agenda included increasing security, countering serious and organized crime, and enhancing border management.<\/p>\n<p>Other topics discussed at the event included:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>counterterrorism, <\/li>\n<li>foreign investment in critical infrastructure, <\/li>\n<li>cybersecurity, <\/li>\n<li>refugee and migration challenges and patterns, <\/li>\n<li>visa-free travel programs <\/li>\n<li>information sharing <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Attorney General Jeremy Wright said:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt the conclusion of another productive Quintet, ministers from the five countries again confirmed the importance of coordinated efforts to counter violent extremism and other national security issues.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese types of issues evolve rapidly and present governments with fresh challenges in how best to protect the public.
