{"id":68172,"date":"2016-03-03T10:54:00","date_gmt":"2016-03-03T10:54:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=fd6ee4d87cf49cbd0712e51955914350"},"modified":"2016-03-03T10:54:00","modified_gmt":"2016-03-03T10:54:00","slug":"news-story-government-plan-to-boost-south-east-transport-infrastructure","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=68172","title":{"rendered":"News story: Government plan to boost south-east transport infrastructure"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<div class=\"call-to-action\">\n<ul>\n<li>the study will prepare a case to consider further investment on this part of the M25<\/li>\n<li>\u00a315 billion is being invested to improve Britain\u2019s roads<\/li>\n<li>six strategic studies are being carried out to work out how to improve the road network<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p>A major study to boost transport infrastructure across the south-east has been launched.<\/p>\n<p>The work will look at ways to improve the performance of the transport network between junctions 10 and 16 of the M25.<\/p>\n<p>The government is investing \u00a315 billion to create 1,300 extra miles of lanes up until 2020 in the biggest upgrade to the road network in a generation, to deliver better journeys for drivers.<\/p>\n<p>The new strategic study will explore the best way to make further improvements that help the economy to grow between 2020 and 2025.<\/p>\n<p>It is one of 6 strategic studies the Department for Transport has commissioned, and work is already underway on the other 5.<\/p>\n<p>Highways England has appointed WSP Parsons Brinckerhoff, Steer Davies Gleave and GL Hearn to complete the project.<\/p>\n<p>The team will prepare a case to consider further investment on this part of the M25.<\/p>\n<p>The study will consider a range of different options to ensure that the local road network and public transport play their part in long term transport solutions to the issues affecting the busiest part of the strategic road network in the country.<\/p>\n<p>All lane running has been introduced on two sections of the M25 \u2013 between junctions 23 and 27 and junctions 5 and 7 \u2013 maintaining safety on the motorway network while delivering more reliable journeys with less congestion.<\/p>\n<p>Road Minister Andrew Jones said: <\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>We are making a \u00a315 billion investment in our roads \u2013 the biggest in a generation \u2013 to deliver better journeys and put the infrastructure in place for our economy to grow.<\/p>\n<p class=\"last-child\">We have a long-term plan for Britain so we are carrying out 6 strategic studies to decide what further improvements we can make.
