{"id":68662,"date":"2016-03-16T18:00:16","date_gmt":"2016-03-16T18:00:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=aab92f9604c3b5dc938f3c2a56ecd63f"},"modified":"2016-03-16T18:00:16","modified_gmt":"2016-03-16T18:00:16","slug":"news-story-civilcrime-news-recruits-needed-for-laa-appeals-review-panel","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=68662","title":{"rendered":"News story: Civil\/crime news: recruits needed for LAA Appeals Review panel"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>We are looking for exceptional solicitors and barristers with legal aid experience to join the Legal Aid Agency\u2019s Appeals Review panel.<\/p>\n<p>The aim is to create a panel of up to 100 independent funding and costs adjudicators (IFCAs).<\/p>\n<p>Among the 100 IFCAs we will need:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>25 who are able to sit as the Special Controls Review (SCRP) panel<\/li>\n<li>20 who are able to sit as the Very High Costs Case (VHCC) panel<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 id=\"how-you-will-work\">How you will work<\/h3>\n<p>As an IFCA or member of the SCRP\/VHCC panels you will need to use your knowledge and expertise to decide appeals against refusal of funding and provisional assessment of costs.<\/p>\n<p>IFCA members will mainly work alone. However, in exceptional cases members may be asked to join a committee of two or more members.<\/p>\n<p>This will happen where the circumstances of the case require the considered opinions of more than one panel member. SCRP and VHCC sit as panels, usually of three members.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"payment\">Payment<\/h3>\n<p>You will be paid \u00a352 per hour and reasonable expenses will be reimbursed. SCRP and VHCC panels will be paid half-day rates.
