{"id":68840,"date":"2016-03-22T09:32:17","date_gmt":"2016-03-22T09:32:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=22ba6dec67596c77cbca17ee0e32a805"},"modified":"2016-03-22T09:32:17","modified_gmt":"2016-03-22T09:32:17","slug":"news-story-university-technical-college-applications-deadline-set-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=68840","title":{"rendered":"News story: University technical college applications: deadline set"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>To help groups interested in opening a <abbr title=\"university technical college\">UTC<\/abbr>, the Department for Education (DfE) will publish guidance before the summer on the application process.<\/p>\n<p>The guidance will include information on:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>what DfE expects in an application to establish a <abbr title=\"university technical college\">UTC<\/abbr> <\/li>\n<li>what applicants need to know before applying<\/li>\n<li>how to complete and submit an application<\/li>\n<li>who to contact for help with an application<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Applicants are strongly encouraged to discuss their application with the <a rel=\"external\" href=\"http:\/\/www.utcolleges.org\/about\/baker-dearing-educational-trust\/\">Baker Dearing Educational Trust<\/a> (BDT), who will be able to offer advice and support. BDT is funded by DfE to help applicant groups prepare.<\/p>\n<p>There are currently 39 UTCs open, with 20 more in development. UTCs are schools developed in partnership with universities and employers that prepare young people for careers in industries such as engineering and science.
