This is absolutely not the case.<\/p>\n<p><abbr title=\"HM Revenue and Customs\">HMRC<\/abbr>\u2019s position has always been that Gift Aid can be claimed when an individual donor, who pays tax in the UK, makes a donation, even if additional names are added in a supporting message. <abbr title=\"HM Revenue and Customs\">HMRC<\/abbr>\u2019s advice on this issue appears to have been misinterpreted so we are going to ensure our guidance is as clear as possible.<\/p>\n<p>Where gifts are made by groups of people, such as work collections or large groups of friends, Gift Aid is not due and should not be claimed.<\/p>\n<p>It is a government priority to maximise Gift Aid on eligible donations, and \u00a31.2bn of tax repayments were made to charities in the tax year 2014 to 2015 through Gift Aid.<\/p>\n<p><abbr title=\"HM Revenue and Customs\">HMRC<\/abbr> will continue working closely with charity collection agents to help them improve their processes so that Gift Aid is not removed from eligible donations.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>HMRC&#8217;s response to recent media coverage on Gift Aid donations.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":8,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[13],"tags":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/68920"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/8"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=68920"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/68920\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=68920"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=68920"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=68920"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
