Two London children\u2019s services departments in the capital have been awarded Ofsted\u2019s top inspection grade. Westminster<\/a>, and Royal Borough Kensington and Chelsea<\/a>, are the first to be judged \u2018outstanding\u2019 under Ofsted\u2019s tough single inspection framework. The third borough in the tri-borough partnership, Hammersmith and Fulham<\/a>, has also been rated as \u2018good\u2019 by the inspectorate.<\/p>\n

Her Majesty\u2019s Chief Inspector, Sir Michael Wilshaw said:<\/p>\n

The tri-borough partnership has shown what can be achieved with strong political will and an ambition that only the best services will do for vulnerable children and young people. These inspections clearly show the difference that excellent leadership and social work practice makes to the lives of children and their families.<\/p>\n

These areas show what can be done. If they can do it \u2013 others must follow their lead.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Mike Sheridan, Ofsted\u2019s Regional Director for London, said:<\/p>\n

I am incredibly impressed with the quality of leadership and social work in the tri-borough. They have shown what is possible when talented leaders and professionals are ambitious for vulnerable young people and their families. I would urge other authorities to learn from their example.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

    Children\u2019s services in the 3 authorities operate under a tri-borough partnership, and were inspected at the same time. Three individual inspection reports have been published as they are legally separate local authorities and not all services to children are shared.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    The Office for Standards in Education, Children\u2019s Services and Skills (Ofsted) regulates and inspects to achieve excellence in the care of children and young people, and in education and skills for learners of all ages. It regulates and inspects childcare and children\u2019s social care, and inspects the Children and Family Court Advisory and Support Service (Cafcass), academies, colleges, initial teacher training, work-based learning and skills training, adult and community learning, and education and training in prisons and other secure establishments. It inspects services for looked after children, safeguarding and child protection<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    Ofsted has today (Tuesday 29 March 2016) published 4single inspection framework reports, for Kensington and Chelsea<\/a>, Westminster<\/a>, Hammersmith and Fulham<\/a> and Luton Borough Council<\/a>. <\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
