In recent years, regular flooding has created issues for motorists on a three-mile section of the M5 at Falfield due to drainage deterioration.<\/p>\n

But following a 6 month programme of works, narrow lanes are being removed on both northbound and southbound carriageways, signalling the completion of the flooding scheme.<\/p>\n

Dave Frampton, project manager for Highways England, said: <\/p>\n

This section of the M5 near Falfield suffered from flooding to both the hard shoulder and lane one during periods of heavy rain.<\/p>\n

The pipework has now been upgraded, which will improve flood resilience and in turn the safety of road users on this stretch of our network.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

To facilitate the removal of the narrow lanes and resurfacing work, both southbound and northbound carriageways will face full overnight closures from 8pm to 6am in the coming week.<\/p>\n

The full southbound carriageway from junction 13 to junction 15 will be closed overnight on Saturday, 9 April, junction 16 to 13 northbound will be closed on Sunday, 10 April, junction 14 to 13 on Tuesday, 12 April and junction 16 to 14 on Wednesday, 13 April.<\/p>\n

During the overnight closures, clearly signed diversion routes will be in place, utilising the A38.<\/p>\n

And Mr Frampton added: <\/p>\n

We understand the work may cause some inconvenience and disruption but we are making every effort to ensure the impact of our work is kept to a minimum.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
