{"id":69344,"date":"2016-04-06T14:39:59","date_gmt":"2016-04-06T14:39:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=71928d9d80b3618db062e936edf63ae0"},"modified":"2016-04-06T14:39:59","modified_gmt":"2016-04-06T14:39:59","slug":"news-story-apha-offers-private-blood-testing-to-help-diagnose-tb-in-cattle","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=69344","title":{"rendered":"News story: APHA offers private blood testing to help diagnose TB in cattle"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>As part of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/news\/new-cattle-measures-to-help-deliver-tb-freedom-in-england\">new cattle measures to help achieve TB freedom<\/a>, from 6 April farmers in England will be able to submit blood samples for TB testing to an <abbr title=\"Animal and Plant Health Agency\">APHA<\/abbr> laboratory at their own expense, via a private veterinarian and with prior <abbr title=\"Animal and Plant Health Agency\">APHA<\/abbr> approval.<\/p>\n<p>The private blood test will be available in a limited number of scenarios outside of the government-funded testing programme, where farmers seek additional assurances as to the TB-free status of their animals.<\/p>\n<p>This will provide additional TB test options to farmers wanting to check and monitor the health of their cattle or those they are planning to purchase.<\/p>\n<p>Cattle not eligible for private blood testing include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>Cattle from herds under restriction undergoing government interferon gamma blood testing<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Skin-test positive and other cattle awaiting slaughter for TB control purposes<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Animals in Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland at the time of testing<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Herds under restrictions for overdue tuberculin skin tests<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Cattle that are under 6 months of age<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Farmers and private veterinarians should contact their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/organisations\/animal-and-plant-health-agency\/about\/access-and-opening\">regional <abbr title=\"Animal and Plant Health Agency\">APHA<\/abbr> office<\/a> for more information.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA) is offering private interferon gamma blood tests to diagnose TB under certain conditions.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":8,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[13],"tags":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/69344"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/8"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=69344"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/69344\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=69344"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=69344"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=69344"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
