{"id":69672,"date":"2016-04-18T12:08:00","date_gmt":"2016-04-18T12:08:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=bc20e4a3936f4401a34e44cb3e9aba74"},"modified":"2016-04-18T12:08:00","modified_gmt":"2016-04-18T12:08:00","slug":"press-release-philip-hammond-visits-tripoli-to-support-new-libyan-government","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=69672","title":{"rendered":"Press release: Philip Hammond visits Tripoli to support new Libyan Government"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>This visit follows the recent arrival of the GNA in Tripoli and is the first visit of a Foreign Secretary since 2011 and since the evacuation of the British Embassy in 2014.<\/p>\n<p>In meetings, the Foreign Secretary discussed the GNA\u2019s priorities on security, rebuilding the economy and restoring public services for the benefit of all Libyans. He also discussed their plans to tackle the threat of Da\u2019esh and countering people trafficking. <\/p>\n<p>During the visit the Foreign Secretary also announced \u00a310 million funding to support the GNA. This includes \u00a31.5million for tackling illegal migration, smuggling and organised crime, and \u00a31.8 million to support counter-terrorism activities.<\/p>\n<p>Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Britain and its allies fully support Prime Minister Fayez Serraj and his government as they restore peace and stability to the whole of Libya. We stand ready to provide further assistance to Libya and its people.<\/p>\n<p>Britain is at the forefront of the international community\u2019s efforts to stabilise Libya and is committing an extra \u00a310 million to help the Government of National Accord strengthen political institutions, the economy, security, and  justice.
