{"id":69754,"date":"2016-04-20T09:30:15","date_gmt":"2016-04-20T09:30:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=3510845924acdf809694531aae90b690"},"modified":"2016-04-20T09:30:15","modified_gmt":"2016-04-20T09:30:15","slug":"news-story-saving-power-and-frequency-requirements-with-new-radar-communication-framework","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=69754","title":{"rendered":"News story: Saving power and frequency requirements with new radar communication framework"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p><a rel=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/www.strath.ac.uk\/\">The University of Strathclyde<\/a> is using Centre for Defence Enterprise (<abbr title=\"Centre for Defence Enterprise\">CDE<\/abbr>) funding to look at novel capabilities for communicating radar from sensing platforms, which could reduce power and frequency requirements.<\/p>\n<p>It has developed and demonstrated a fractional Fourier order division multiplexing framework for communicating radar systems. The communication and the radar performance have been evaluated on both simulated and real data and a benchtop demonstrator has been developed to validate the concept.<\/p>\n<p>Planned next steps will be to develop a real-time working demonstrator, and integrate higher-level communication standards to enhance the data rate of the communication link. <\/p>\n<p>Dr Carmine Clemente of the University of Strathclyde said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"last-child\">The support from <abbr title=\"Centre for Defence Enterprise\">CDE<\/abbr> allowed us to demonstrate the capabilities of the innovation we\u2019ve developed.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h2 id=\"about-cde\">About <abbr title=\"Centre for Defence Enterprise\">CDE<\/abbr><br \/>\n<\/h2>\n<p><abbr title=\"Centre for Defence Enterprise\">CDE<\/abbr> funds novel, high-risk, high-potential-benefit research.
