{"id":69920,"date":"2016-04-25T14:24:28","date_gmt":"2016-04-25T14:24:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=6b1baa483a3b4960e965d06ac0791a3e"},"modified":"2016-04-25T14:24:28","modified_gmt":"2016-04-25T14:24:28","slug":"news-story-walsall-woman-convicted-of-providing-unlawful-immigration-advice","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=69920","title":{"rendered":"News story: Walsall woman convicted of providing unlawful immigration advice"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>Ms Satpal Kaur Kundi, also known as Veena Kumar, 46 of Caledonian Close, Walsall, pleaded guilty at the Birmingham Magistrates\u2019 Court on 25 April 2016 to a charge of providing unregulated immigration advice or services between August 2013 and May 2015.<\/p>\n<p>She was sentenced to 10 weeks\u2019 imprisonment, suspended for 12 months, and ordered to pay compensation of \u00a32,613, costs of \u00a31,604, and a victim surcharge of \u00a380. <\/p>\n<p>On sentencing, the magistrate said:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe offence had been aggravated by your incompetent service, prejudice caused to the victim\u2019s immigration status and money charged over a prolonged period of time. You have also shown a disregard for statutory requirements and used fraudulent methods in doing so\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Speaking about the decision, Deputy Immigration Services Commissioner, Ian Leigh, said:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe OISC is here to ensure that people seeking immigration advice are treated fairly by people they can trust.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMs Kundi chose to operate outside the law, and without regard for the protection of her clients.
