{"id":70054,"date":"2016-04-29T07:34:00","date_gmt":"2016-04-29T07:34:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=706bb5f37f54fb6dc18ad29b53895661"},"modified":"2016-04-29T07:34:00","modified_gmt":"2016-04-29T07:34:00","slug":"news-story-nearly-50-of-bps-2016-applications-filed-or-in-train","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=70054","title":{"rendered":"News story: Nearly 50% of BPS 2016 applications filed or in train"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>With nearly half of all applications for Basic Payment Scheme (<abbr title=\"Basic Payment Scheme\">BPS<\/abbr>) 2016 payments either in progress or submitted, the Rural Payments Agency (<abbr title=\"Rural Payments Agency\">RPA<\/abbr>) is calling all remaining eligible farmers in England to use the Bank Holiday to complete their applications well ahead of the 16 May deadline.<\/p>\n<p>Latest figures show over 26,000 completed online applications for <abbr title=\"Basic Payment Scheme\">BPS<\/abbr> 2016 have been submitted and more than 17,400 applications are in progress. The agency has also received a further 4,000 completed paper forms. <\/p>\n<p>To date nearly 78,000 of <abbr title=\"Basic Payment Scheme\">BPS<\/abbr> 2015 claims have been completed. In addition, a further 2,600 bridging payments have already been made. This means almost 80,600 farmers have received a payment. <\/p>\n<p>Chief Executive of the <abbr title=\"Rural Payments Agency\">RPA<\/abbr> Mark Grimshaw said: <\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>With just over two weeks to go until the 2016 deadline, we are urging farmers who have not yet started or submitted their application for this year\u2019s <abbr title=\"Basic Payment Scheme\">BPS<\/abbr> not to leave it to the last minute.<\/p>\n<p>The Rural Payments service is working and help is at hand for any farmer applying who wants it. Everyone who made a <abbr title=\"Basic Payment Scheme\">BPS<\/abbr> 2015 claim has been sent \u2018How to Claim\u2019 guidance, there\u2019s hints and tips on GOV.UK and our network of online support centres are open to give help.<\/p>\n<p class=\"last-child\">Meanwhile, we are making good progress with 2015 bridging payments and are on track to pay all the remainder by the end of the week.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Agents can now also speak directly to a dedicated team via the 03000 200 301 helpline and there\u2019s a 24\/7 automated service for those who want to apply online for the first time. To set up an online application form applicants just need to call 03000 200 301 then key in their SBI number and contact details. Call times to the Rural Services helpline continue to fall.  <\/p>\n<p>Defra has given the <abbr title=\"Rural Payments Agency\">RPA<\/abbr> the resources it needs to get these payments into bank accounts as soon as possible. The <abbr title=\"Rural Payments Agency\">RPA<\/abbr> can also reassure farmers that the agency will investigate any <abbr title=\"Basic Payment Scheme\">BPS<\/abbr> 2015 payment differences over the summer, through our routine reconciliation process. Where there is flexibility within the scheme rules, the agency will use it.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"bps-2016-support\">\n<abbr title=\"Basic Payment Scheme\">BPS<\/abbr> 2016 support<\/h2>\n<p>The <abbr title=\"Rural Payments Agency\">RPA<\/abbr> has a range of new support features available to help remaining applicants submit their 2016 claims on time. These include a new <a rel=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/VTqTB55sYH\">\u2018Hints and Tips\u2019<\/a> video and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/uploads\/system\/uploads\/attachment_data\/file\/514680\/BPS_2016_hints_and_tips_v2.0.pdf\">guidance<\/a>, a 24\/7 automated service for applicants who have a paper application but want to apply online for first time, and the option for agents to speak directly to a dedicated team.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"updated-hints-and-tips-document\">Updated \u2018Hints and Tips\u2019 document<\/h2>\n<p><abbr title=\"Rural Payments Agency\">RPA<\/abbr> is taking the questions farmers and agents are asking as they apply for their 2016 <abbr title=\"Basic Payment Scheme\">BPS<\/abbr>, and turning them into a regularly updated helpful Hints and Tips document available at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/uploads\/system\/uploads\/attachment_data\/file\/514680\/BPS_2016_hints_and_tips_v2.0.pdf\">GOV.UK\/rpa\/bps2016<\/a>.  <\/p>\n<p>It has been updated to include practical answers to some of the most frequently asked questions, including:  <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The best web browsers for the Rural Payments service.<\/li>\n<li>What to do if land shows in the wrong region online. <\/li>\n<li>How to filter the \u2018Land use\u2019 screen so it is easier to make changes. <\/li>\n<li>How to claim on common-land grazing rights.<\/li>\n<li>What to do online when claiming land in dual use.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 id=\"active-farmer-declaration\">Active farmer declaration<\/h2>\n<p><abbr title=\"Basic Payment Scheme\">BPS<\/abbr> 2016 paper applicants are reminded to tick the \u2018active farmer\u2019 box before submitting their claim.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"adding-land-parcels\">Adding land parcels<\/h2>\n<p>To help farmers and agents complete <abbr title=\"Basic Payment Scheme\">BPS<\/abbr> 2016 applications they can email <abbr title=\"Rural Payments Agency\">RPA<\/abbr> for support with adding land parcels that they want to appear on their online claims.<\/p>\n<p>Farmers should mark their emails \u2018<abbr title=\"Basic Payment Scheme\">BPS<\/abbr> 2016 add land\u2019 in the subject headline of their email to <a href=\"mailto:ruralpayments@defra.gsi.gov.uk\">ruralpayments@defra.gsi.gov.uk<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"online-support-centres\">Online support centres<\/h2>\n<p>There are 14 online support centres across the country open. During the bank holiday weekend all online support centres, with the exception of Hereford, Solihull and Cambridge, will be open on Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Please check online at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gov.uk\/guidance\/bps-2016\">GOV.UK\/guidance\/bps-2016<\/a> for full opening hours of your local centre. On 16 May \u2013 the last day for applying without penalty \u2013 they will be open until midnight. It is possible to walk in during the week but appointments are required at the weekends.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"videos-and-on-screen-help\">Videos and on screen help<\/h2>\n<p>A range of helpful videos and documents designed to make the application process as easy as possible can be found on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/guidance\/bps-2016\">GOV.UK<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s also a new \u2018hints and tips\u2019 <a rel=\"external\" href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/237drvO\">video<\/a> on the <a rel=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UCephlX7TU4emwmA03yOZ1pQ\"><abbr title=\"Rural Payments Agency\">RPA<\/abbr> YouTube channel<\/a> .
