{"id":70557,"date":"2016-05-13T16:58:10","date_gmt":"2016-05-13T16:58:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=722e3fc034f2b83b83b6add3c875f918"},"modified":"2016-05-13T16:58:10","modified_gmt":"2016-05-13T16:58:10","slug":"press-release-government-delivers-on-manifesto-to-build-economic-security-and-life-chances-for-all","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=70557","title":{"rendered":"Press release: Government delivers on manifesto to build economic security and life chances for all"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<div class=\"call-to-action\">\n<ul>\n<li>legislation passed to deliver National Living Wage<\/li>\n<li>Housing Act provides the framework for delivery of 200,000 new starter homes for first time buyers and supports Housing Association tenants to buy their own homes<\/li>\n<li>Welfare Reform and Work Act to help deliver \u00a312 billion savings<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p>Economic security and life chances for all were at the heart of a packed legislative schedule delivering on the government\u2019s manifesto in the first session of Parliament.<\/p>\n<p>Landmark legislation passed by the government will see the creation, for the first time, of a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/national-living-wage-nlw\">National Living Wage<\/a> \u2013 giving a pay rise to thousands of workers across the country.<\/p>\n<p>Amid the 23 government Bills to receive Royal Assent during the session was the Housing and Planning Act, which has set the framework to deliver 200,000 new starter homes for first time buyers and supports the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/right-to-buy-buying-your-council-home\">Right to Buy<\/a> for housing association tenants.<\/p>\n<p>The session also saw further work to reform the welfare system, encouraging people into employment and making work pay.
