Please see the links below to the projects on the central procurement provider, UKSBS Contracts Finder. The deadline is 14:00 on Monday 6 June 2016.<br \/>\nThese are open tender calls for research and cover 3 areas:<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"the-impact-of-minimum-wages-especially-the-introduction-of-the-national-living-wage-nlw-on-individuals-blojeucr16046lpc\">The impact of minimum wages, especially the introduction of the National Living Wage (<abbr title=\"National Living Wage\">NLW<\/abbr>), on individuals (BLOJEUCR16046LPC).<\/h3>\n<p>Potential areas of investigation might include the impact of the <abbr title=\"National Living Wage\">NLW<\/abbr> on:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>individual earnings (both hourly and weekly)<\/li>\n<li>household and\/or family income (potentially including the interaction with benefits)<\/li>\n<li>the pay and reward package (including premia pay, staff rewards and perks)<\/li>\n<li>hours and employment<\/li>\n<li>self-employment<\/li>\n<li>progression and labour mobility<\/li>\n<li>types of contract (eg use of variable hours or zero hours contracts)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We will commission up to 3 projects in this area. <a rel=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/www.contractsfinder.service.gov.uk\/Notice\/afa239f6-3096-46a3-864a-c595779f3e3a\">Link to Contracts Finder<\/a><\/p>\n<h3 id=\"the-impact-of-minimum-wages-especially-the-introduction-of-the-nlw-on-businesses-blojeucr16048lpc\">The impact of minimum wages, especially the introduction of the <abbr title=\"National Living Wage\">NLW<\/abbr>, on businesses (BLOJEUCR16048LPC).<\/h3>\n<p>Potential areas of investigation might include the impact of the <abbr title=\"National Living Wage\">NLW<\/abbr> and how firms are responding or adapting in terms of:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>pay structures, differentials and work organisation<\/li>\n<li>non-base pay (such as unsocial hours, overtime and Sunday\/Bank Holiday premia), wider terms and conditions (such as the use of variable hours or zero hours contracts, paid breaks and sick pay provisions), and non-pay benefits (such as annual leave entitlement, pension contributions)<\/li>\n<li>progression within the firm<\/li>\n<li>hours and employment<\/li>\n<li>profits<\/li>\n<li>prices<\/li>\n<li>productivity, capital investment and training<\/li>\n<li>characteristics of jobs (eg evidence of changes to tasks, merging or flexibility of roles and tasks)<\/li>\n<li>characteristics of the workforce (eg changes to the age structure or use of apprentices)<\/li>\n<li>contracts and outsourcing<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We will commission up to 4 projects in this area. <a rel=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/www.contractsfinder.service.gov.uk\/Notice\/f7594c29-b54e-4965-a9c9-6861d9c7d618\">Link to Contracts Finder<\/a><\/p>\n<h3 id=\"other-research-topics-on-the-impact-of-the-nmw-including-the-nlw-blojeucr16047lpc\">Other research topics on the impact of the <abbr title=\"National Minimum Wage\">NMW<\/abbr>, including the <abbr title=\"National Living Wage\">NLW<\/abbr> (BLOJEUCR16047LPC).<\/h3>\n<p>The <abbr title=\"Low Pay Commission\">LPC<\/abbr> invites tenders from researchers with ideas for new or other research that could fruitfully be carried out in relation to the <abbr title=\"National Minimum Wage\">NMW<\/abbr> and the <abbr title=\"National Living Wage\">NLW<\/abbr>, and which would prove to be a suitable project for the <abbr title=\"Low Pay Commission\">LPC<\/abbr> to commission. This might include research that looks at international comparisons, non-compliance, or the impact of the Apprentice Rate.
