{"id":70731,"date":"2016-05-19T15:16:50","date_gmt":"2016-05-19T15:16:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=21a11ea7a0cea47dd766df3d9b1c01d4"},"modified":"2016-05-19T15:16:50","modified_gmt":"2016-05-19T15:16:50","slug":"news-story-vauxhall-zafira-second-vehicle-safety-recall-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=70731","title":{"rendered":"News story: Vauxhall Zafira second vehicle safety recall"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>Vauxhall will contact you if you\u2019re a registered owner of a Zafira B model to tell you about the second safety recall and provide appropriate advice.<\/p>\n<p>Vauxhall recalled Zafira B models in December 2015 following an investigation into the cause of the fires. Vauxhall found that the fires were caused as result of improper repair to heater blower motor resistors.<\/p>\n<p>Vauxhall registered the issue with the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA), the government agency responsible for monitoring vehicle safety recalls and defects in Great Britain.<\/p>\n<p>Vauxhall has now carried out further investigation into the fires and has been told by DVSA that a second safety recall is needed, which will now be carried out.<\/p>\n<p>Vauxhall now plans to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>replace the current soldered fuse resistor with a new wax fuse resistor<\/li>\n<li>put in a new blower motor<\/li>\n<li>put in new moulding at the base of the windscreen to allow water to drain away<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you own a vehicle that\u2019s affected, you\u2019ll be contacted by Vauxhall telling you:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>that if you haven\u2019t done so already, you should take your vehicle to have the repair work done as part of the original recall to replace the resistor pack<\/li>\n<li>what you can do to mitigate the risk<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Vauxhall will then contact you again in August to tell you:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>what you need to do next<\/li>\n<li>who you should contact<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You won\u2019t need to pay to get the problem fixed.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"protecting-the-public\">Protecting the public<\/h3>\n<p>DVSA Chief Executive, Gareth Llewellyn, said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>The safety of the public is our top priority. We have continued to monitor closely Vauxhall\u2019s actions to rectify faults found during the recall of the Zafira B.<\/p>\n<p class=\"last-child\">We have told Vauxhall that a second safety recall is needed, which will now be carried out.
